Production Blog- Editing Day Two!
What's up gang?
Camila and I have continued the editing process since we have last updated you. We left off, stating we still needed to edit the soundtrack, the titles, and a few technical issues of the task.
During the duration of editing today, we entered in our titles, and fixed off the issues we found that were in the clipped together shots. We found it best to leave the soundtrack for last, so it could give us more time to find the perfect sounds and tracks for each part of the film.
We had already previously picked our fonts, and the order our titles would go in, so it just came to putting it together in the end, and deciding the best place to put the titles. In shots that were done with a long shot, we had the luxury of deciding where we wanted to put our titles. Usually we would place the titles in a bigger size, with the same font in a corner of these certain clips. In close-up shots, we had to make sure we put the titles somewhere where we wouldn't be blocking something important. In these kind of shots, the titles were in a smaller size, and the location was picked depending on what was filmed. For example, in a shot of Camila and I baking, we had to make sure the title wasn't blocking any of our actions, so we placed the title right out of the way of the bowl being used.
We then both went back and reviewed the collective film so far. We had to edit some of the clips that were awkwardly timed and cut them again, and then make sure the clips cut into each other smoothly. In particular, the clips of both of us in the kitchen were not timed correctly in certain parts, so those clips were the ones we especially had to edit down. This is an important task to get correctly, because we don't want any shot to overrun and stretch out the film and feel overdone.
So far, our film is coming along very well. We have already started to brainstorm certain sounds and songs that could backtrack our shots, although we have not chose or added anything yet. Our sounds will go from casual, to increasingly ominous. This is important to our genre, which is Thriller, so we can get it just right.
Next, we are going to finally choose our song, and added sounds to our film. Catch you then!
