Reflection

I am very grateful to have had the honor to do such a creative project for this class. I learned so much over the course of the creation of this commercial.

Starting out, before this project, I had never edited in a video software. I'm glad that using Caput was easy to figure out. Specifically, I figured out how to edit the transitions between the photos I chose. They had many options, that I had to go through and enter one by one in between every picture and video. This took some time to figure out, but I do love what it added to in my video. I specifically struggled with, and then learned, how to add music from a song that I chose into the edit. It was a hassle, attempting to move my edit to my iPhone, and then gather my music recordings, to then put into the edit I had to edit on my iPhone. I honestly thought at one point my commercial would delete, so I for some reason was very on edge while trying to enter my audio. Other than that, I found learning how to include text, and edit the size of my photos in Capcut was quite easy to figure out, and gave me useful skills I can use later on.

The most valuable thing I learned from this project was how to manage my time and spread out my work evenly among the days I had. Procrastination was not an option for me on this, as it was going to lead to more stress, that I couldn't afford to have. I needed for my commercial to have the best quality that I could give, and for it to not be rushed in the end and have an outcome I was not proud of. I'm very proud of myself in this project, as I happen to not be great in time management, and when I didn't procrastinate, I came out with a project I was very proud of. Asking peers and teachers for help when I needed it also proved to be on of my most useful skills I learned. Although I learned the Capcut editing skills myself, making sure I had the right idea, and specifically when I needed help with my audio, asking peers for help lended me advice that I needed. I truly couldn't have completed my commercial the way I wanted to if I hadn't reached out to my fellow peers, so I am so grateful for them to be there for me, and I for them.

When looking at my next project, I am looking to take a glance of my priorities and work with when I have the time for that project's work. I really still need to work on my time management, to make sure it becomes a habit to have good management in time, and to not slip back into procrastination. With other AP and AICE classes, I should look at due dates, and when things are assigned, to fit in my project work time. This will effectively keep me from becoming stressed in the future over any other Media Studies projects, and keep me organized with my other classes as well. Although I didn't procrastinate on this project, I still will not downplay the work it took me to do this commercial into my next project as well. I will make sure I go into the project knowing it will take hard work and determination. This will help me to complete the project without getting overwhelmed by the workload.
